Ancient oaks draped in Spanish moss, rustic cast-iron gates and ornate, marble tombstones grace the Old Live Oak cemetery in Selma, Alabama. The cemetery is easily one of the the most beautiful in Alabama. Old Live Oak was founded in 1829 and is on the National Register of Historic places. The cemetery is located at 110 Dallas Avenue, Selma, Alabama.

James Newton Montgomery is buried in Old Live Oak Cemetery with his family. Montgomery was a marble carver–his signed work can be found throughout Alabama.
